Breed  Character Summary

Originating in Germany the first boxer club was established in Munich, in the year 1896.

Boxers are a bright, energetic and playful breed that do tend to be very good with children. The versatility of the Boxer was recognized by the military, which used them as valuable messenger dogs, pack carriers, and also attack and guard dogs in times of war.

Boxers have a very long puppy period and adolescence, they are often called the Peter Pan of the dog world and are not really considered, fully mature until the age of three. They need early training and socializing to keep their high energy from wearing out their owners.
